The Washington Alliance for Healthcare Insurance
Trust (WAHIT) is an employer-governed trust
which began in June 1997. The Trust has
arranged group insurance contracts with Premera
Blue Cross, LifeWise Health Plan of Washington,
LifeWise Assurance Company, and Vision Service
Plan to provide insurance coverage for medical
dental, vision, life, accidental death and
dismemberment (AD&D), dependent life,
supplemental/optional term life* and short term
disability income coverage*. Additionally
the Trust has contracted with ComPsych to
provide GuidanceResources®,
an employee assistance program which is included
with the medical coverage.
By the pooling of a
large number of participating employers, WAHIT
is able to negotiate and arrange group insurance
contracts at a price that is typically more in
line with a small employer's budget.
